There are 7 marinas on Fidalgo Island in Anacortes which is in the San Juan Island, however Anacortes is accessible by 3 different bridges. Each of the marinas in Anacortes have their special feature; the largest private marina is Skyline Marina located in Flounder Bay which consists of 710 boat slips of which 465 are dockominiums with 5 separate condominium associations.

You will see condo boat moorage or condominium moorage offered for sale in many marinas now, but Skyline Marina in Anacortes was the first condo moorage in the United States. Also referred to as dockominiums, a boat owner or investor can purchase a boat slip-- this also includes a percentage of ownership of the common grounds such as common walkways, and any facilities that the marina has such as laundry and shower facilities, clubhouse etc. Dues are collected from each owner for the maintenance, insurance and reserves much as they are for any condominium association. Ownership of condo moorage may or may not include a specific assigned parking space just like condos.
 
One of the biggest advantages to ownership in Skyline Marina is the location. Roche Harbor is only 25 nautical miles away! With our long summer days boaters working in Seattle can drive up to Anacortes after work and be in Roche Harbor for dinner. If you like to drop your anchor, Sucia is only 20 nm away, and who doesn't’t like spending a weekend in Victoria BC which is only 33 nm from Skyline Marina?  You might also find you like to spend the night on your boat and stay in Skyline Marina for the weekend and enjoy everything that Anacortes has to offer.
 
Skyline Marina amenities consist of clean restrooms, spacious laundry facilities, trash pickup and plenty of parking. There is a boat hoist (open to the public and there is a fee for use), RV storage lot (independently owned), grocery/deli store, barbershop, and marina store.
 
Are you wondering if you should lease or buy a slip?
 
Moorage is at a premium and the continue to shrink as the boating industry and boat ownership continues to grow. On average the permitting process to build a marina is said to take in excess of 10 years and the costs are soaring with the stricter environmental laws.
 
There are times when there are no available slips to lease so owning a slip guarantees that you have a great spot set fenders and lines just the way you like them. If you sell your boat you can rent your slip. They make great rental properties since you don’t get the 2 AM phone call about a leaky toilet!
 
Condo boat moorage can be purchased as an investment and rented providing the CCR’s allow for it. Some marinas allow live-aboards while other marinas prohibit living aboard your boat so make sure you read the CCR’s when you purchase boat moorage (or any condominium or home with CCR's).
 
Condominium moorage is real estate. Like a home, a third party must be a licensed real estate agent or an attorney to represent an independent condo moorage buyer. They are listed in the NWMLS for sale just like any other condominium.
